article An extensive data set on the compositional variation of tourmaline from granitic pegmatites, from migmatitic gneisses and from various types of hydrothermal veins from the Schwarzwald, Germany, is provided. The investigated tourmalines are members of the alkali and X-vacant groups representing mostly dravite- schorl solid solutions with some analyses belonging to the foitite-Mg-foitite series. Oxygen isotope data on quartz-tourmaline pairs indicate formation temperatures between 550 and 350 °C for most of the quartz-tourmaline veins. The thermal reaction of dirhodium tetraacetate with tris(3-thienyl)phosphine (3TP), diphenyl(3-thienyl)phosphine (3TPPh2), and diphenyl(2-thienyl)phosphine (2TPPh2) gives rise to mono-cyclometalated and bis-cyclometalated compounds; the latter can have a head-to-head (H−H) or head-to-tail (H−T) configuration. Bis-cyclometalated compounds with H−T configuration can be prepared in high yield under photochemical conditions or by combining irradiation with subsequent thermal treatment in acetic acid. Background Incompatible coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is supposed to be a reason for chipping of ceramic veneered zirconia. This study evaluates the effect of veneering ceramic at varied CTE on bond strength to zirconia. Material and Methods Zirconia disks (Z, O 10 mm, 1.0 mm thickness) were prepared from Y-TZP (Cercon®) and sintered at 1350°C for 6 hours. Phreatic eruptions are exceptionally difficult to forecast by traditional geophysical techniques. Here we report on short-term precursory variations in gas emissions related to phreatic blasts at Poás volcano, Costa Rica, as measured with an in situ multiple gas analyzer that was deployed at the edge of the erupting lake. Abstract The oxidation state of vanadium cations in nanosized vanadium–iron spinels at stoichiometry and at oxidative nonstoichiometry has been investigated by associating X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis (DSC), infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies.
